Pleasant Valley Homespun Primitives:Family Cookie Jar Review & Giveaway

~Part of our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide~
Our first house, which we moved out of almost 18 months ago, was completely our own. We had it built and decorated it exactly how we wanted. It took me the almost 6 years we lived there, to get it that way. I was very proud of each and every piece of it and even our realtor commented on how "doll house perfect" it was.

Now our new house, which we love, while brand new to us, was not brand new. It had been loved by two previous owners who took very great care of it, but had it done their way. It has taken me the past year and a half for it to get it feeling like our own. I have taken my sweet time picking out the decor and trying to not have to change too much, but putting our spin on it.
Our kitchen is probably the least decorated part of the house, which is fine, but that doesn't stop me from constantly being on the look out for great decorations. I was so excited when I was contacted by Kelli Donahue. Kelli owns a company called Pleasant Valley Homespun Primitives.

Kelli Donahue

Let me tell you how great Kelli is.
Kelli emailed me right away and let me pick anything I wanted from her store. Are you kidding me!?! I had such a hard time deciding what my favorite item was going to be. I finally decided on one of her Primitive Family Cookie Jars. I knew I had the perfect place in my kitchen for it. Kelli helped me personalize it with our family name and wedding year. Communication with her was great also, she kept me very informed as to how long it would take and all my shipping information. She made it so easy to work with her, I could not have been happier with her service.
As if she hadn't already impressed me, my Primitive Family Cookie Jar came in the mail just 8 days later. It was nestled very securely in a large box filled with packing materials. (There was also a very great smell to the box, I will get to that in a minute.) I was shocked at how big it was in person!

I immediately put it right on my counter, behind the sink. I have a large empty counter area there, and the Primitive Family Cookie Jar is great for the space. My husband noticed it right when he walked in the kitchen and commented on how nice it was. Many other people have commented on how neat it is and asked where it came from. I am not sure if I will ever put cookies in it, but it is the newest decoration in making my "new house" our own.

To create these one of a kind personalized jars, Kelli takes a glass jar, covers it in muslin, handstitches each label, and ages it to perfection with her "grubby mixture". This great smell I was telling you about, it is from the "grubby mixture", which is coffee, tea, cinnamon, and vanilla.
Kelli has so many other neat, unique items at Pleasant Valley Homespun Primitives. Here are some of my other favorite items.
One of the newest additions to the store-The Cookie Monster Cookie Jar
For those Sesame Street lovers-this couldn't be cuter!

Kelli also creates Primitive Stitchery Signs

These would be a perfect wall decoration with your family photos.
